Policy for Minors

Minors must be at least 10 years old to receive any piercings.

Ages 15 & below are limited to lobe piercings only and must provide an original birth certificate with a legal guardian’s valid driver’s license, and the legal guardian must be present.

Ages 16–17 may receive other piercings with the same required documentation and guardian presence. Clients 18 and older must present a valid government-issued photo ID.

For the safety, comfort, and overall experience of minors, services are performed with careful attention to the child’s tolerance and emotional response during the procedure.

If at any point a minor becomes overly distressed or unable to comfortably continue after the first lobe, the procedure may be paused. In these cases, the remaining lobe will be completed at a separate appointment.

Please note: By booking an appointment, time is reserved specifically for your child. If the child chooses not to proceed with the service upon arrival, a $25 service fee will still apply to cover the reserved appointment time.

This approach ensures a safe, positive experience while maintaining proper procedure and respecting scheduled appointment times.

Healing & Aftercare

  • LOBES, CARTLIDGE, TRAGUE, CONCH, ROOK ECT.

    Healing Time:

    • Lobes: 6–8 weeks

    • Cartilage: 6–12 months

    Care Notes:

    • Avoid sleeping directly on the piercing.

    • Keep hair products, makeup, and headphones away from the area.

    • Cartilage piercings heal slower due to lower blood flow — be patient and consistent.

  • NOSTRIL OR SEPTUM

    Healing Time:

    • Nostril: 4–6 months

    • Septum: 3–4 months

    Care Notes:

    • Clean the outside and gently rinse inside with saline.

    • Avoid makeup directly on the piercing site.

    • Avoid excessive touching or flipping jewelry (for septum).

Minor swelling and tenderness are normal. Small irritation bumps can occur from trauma or movement.

  • Healing Time:

    • 6–12 months

    Care Notes:

    • Avoid high-waisted or tight clothing that causes friction.

    • Be cautious during workouts — friction and sweating can delay healing.

    • Keep the area dry after showering.

Navels are surface piercings and require extra care to avoid rejection.

  • Healing Time:

    • 6–12 months (sometimes longer)

    Care Notes:

    • Wear supportive but breathable bras or clothing.

    • Avoid rough contact or friction.

    • Expect some crusting — this is normal lymph discharge. Clean gently without over-cleaning.

Sensitivity and swelling are common early in healing.

  • Healing Time:

    • Tongue: 4–8 weeks

    • Lip: 2–3 months

    • Other oral placements vary

    Care Notes:

    • Rinse with alcohol-free mouthwash after eating, drinking, or smoking.

    • Reduce spicy, salty, and acidic foods during early healing.

    • Avoid oral contact (kissing, oral sex) during initial healing.

    • Expect swelling for the first several days — cold compresses and ice chips can help.

Maintain excellent oral hygiene to prevent infection.

  • Downsizing your jewelry is a normal and important part of the healing process. When your piercing is first done, we use slightly longer jewelry to allow room for swelling. As the swelling goes down, that longer jewelry can move too much, which can cause irritation or slow down healing.

Most clients should come back for a downsizing appointment about 6-8 weeks after their piercing, depending on the location and how their body is healing. Downsizing simply means we replace your original jewelry with shorter jewelry that fits more comfortably and securely as your piercing heals.

Properly fitted jewelry helps reduce movement, discomfort, and irritation bumps, and helps your piercing heal faster and more smoothly. If your jewelry starts to feel very loose, spins excessively, or hangs down, it’s usually time to schedule a downsizing appointment.

  • Contact Lanae Beauty LLC and a medical provider if you experience:

    • Severe swelling that restricts breathing (oral piercings especially)

    • Thick green or foul-smelling discharge

    • Fever or spreading redness

    • Signs of rejection (jewelry migrating toward the surface)

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Nickel sensitivity is actually pretty common in the general population:

    • About 10–20% of women

    • Around 2–5% of men

However, severe reactions to high-quality piercing jewelry are rare.

If someone is pierced with implant-grade titanium, the likelihood of a true allergic reaction is extremely low.

Most problems people think are allergies are actually:

    • Irritation from pressure

    • Jewelry that’s too tight

    • Snagging or movement

    • Poor aftercare

    • Sleeping on the piercing

  • A piercing bump is a small irritation bump that can form during healing, often caused by pressure, snagging, or jewelry movement. These bumps are common and usually resolve once the irritation is addressed.

    What helps:

    • Clean twice daily with sterile saline

    • Avoid touching or moving the jewelry

    • Reduce pressure (sleep on the opposite side)

    • Have your piercer check the jewelry size

  • It’s best to avoid pools, lakes, rivers, and hot tubs for at least 2–4 weeks, as bacteria in the water can increase the risk of infection.

  • Jewelry should not be changed until the piercing is fully healed. Your piercer can help determine when it’s safe and assist with jewelry changes.

  • Many people expect a piercing to heal quickly, but piercings heal from the outside in and can take months depending on the location.

    Normal healing signs include:

    • Mild redness for the first few days

    • Slight swelling around the piercing

    • Clear or pale yellow fluid (lymph) that dries into crusties

    • Occasional tenderness if bumped

    • Slight itching as the skin heals

These symptoms are part of the body’s natural healing process and usually improve gradually over time.

  • True infections are less common than irritation, but they can happen if bacteria enters the piercing.

    Signs of infection may include:

    • Increasing redness and swelling

    • Warm or painful skin around the piercing

    • Thick yellow or green discharge

    • Fever or severe tenderness

    What to do:

    • Continue saline cleaning

    • Do not remove the jewelry (this can trap infection)

    • Contact your piercer or a medical professional if symptoms worsen

  • Contact Lanae Beauty LLC and a medical provider if you experience:

    • Severe swelling that restricts breathing (oral piercings especially)

    • Thick green or foul-smelling discharge

    • Fever or spreading redness

    • Signs of rejection (jewelry migrating toward the surface)
